How do you get there?

One of the most frequent requests we get at the Fairfield Soil and Water Conservation District is from county residents who want guidance on how to manage the level of vegetation in and around their ponds. While the most common problem is too much vegetation, there have been incidents where encouraging vegetation to grow was the end goal.

Typically, each pond requires a different management approach depending on the size and depth of the body of water, species of vegetation to be managed, and realistic goals of the pond owner.

Listed below are a few references that offer information a pond owner can use to help properly manage a pond. As always, our Wildlife Specialist is available to offer guidance specific to your pond.
